SWCA Team Wins NAVFAC Pacific Natural Resources IDIQ

GeomorphIS is a member of the SWCA Environmental Consultant (SWCA) team on a Naval Facilities Engineering Command Pacific (NAVFAC PAC) natural resources management services IDIQ contract (N62742-15-D-1824). The team will provide environmental and natural resources services in Hawaii, Guam, and the Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands.

GeomorphIS Team to Provide Erosion Control Services to Navy’s Camp M. Monsoor

GeomorphIS and team member Apex Contracting and Consulting, Inc. (Apex) have been tasked by Naval Facilities Engineering Command Southwest (NAVFAC SW) to provide erosion control planning and implementation services to the Navy’s Camp Michael Monsoor (Mountain Warfare Training Center), in San Diego County, California. The team will prepare design plans; repair outfall and contributing flow areas (to include bioengineering methods and materials); develop options for repairing downstream cuts in order to promote retention of soil an silt, and return areas to natural state.

 

BLM-OR Extends GeomorphIS Archaeology Support Task

The US Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Roseburg District Office, Oregon, has tasked GeomorphIS to provide additional archaeology services, to include office and field support activities. This new task extends our Archaeologist Technician services into FY 2017.

 

NAVFAC Awards GeomorphIS San Joaquin K-Rat Survey Task

NAVFAC SW has awarded the GeomorphIS Team a task order to conduct San Joaquin kangaroo rat surveys and habitat suitability evaluation at Naval Air Station Lemoore, Kings County and Fresno County, California. Team member Conservation Science Research and Consulting (CSRC) will provide a 10(a)(1)(A) permitted biologist to perform live trapping of SJ K-Rats to determine presence/absence and to evaluate local habitat conditions.

 

GeomorphIS Provides Inventory Forester to BLM-OR Coos Bay Office

GeomorphIS is providing the BLM-Oregon, Coos Bay District Office with an Inventory Forester to support ongoing resource management programs. The highly specialized Forester will provide beta-testing and development services for the upgraded EcoSurvey application; provide training to BLM Western Oregon office on use of EcoSurvey and other forestry management programs; and provide consultation services on the use of CVS plots/data to help define RA-32 habitat selection criteria as part of the Resource Management Plan (RMP) revision habitat vegetation development.

GeomorphIS to Prepare EA for BLM-NV Elko District

The GeomorphIS Team has been selected by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Elko District Office (NV), to prepare an environmental assessment  (EA) to complete National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) requirements for the O’Neil Project Planning Area (PPA) Vegetation Treatments Project. The EA impact analysis will focus on potential impacts that may result from vegetative treatments conducted within the approximately 2.2 million acre project boundary.  Approximately 300,000 acres of treatment have been identified to be analyzed within the project boundary.

GeomorphIS to Survey Tortoises and Bats at NAF El Centro

NAVFAC SW has tasked GeomorphIS to conduct an assessment of the potential occurrence of desert tortoises on portions of the Naval Air Facility (NAF) El Centro, Imperial County, California, and also to conduct an inventory of the bats across all of the NAF El Centro training lands. The survey and resulting data will provide more detailed information regarding the potential occurrence of Federal and State listed endangered and/or threatened desert tortoise and/or bat species (or species of concern) and assist the Navy and NAF El Centro in their effort to conserve native wildlife in accordance with the NAF El Centro Integrated Natural Resources Management Plan (INRMP). GeomorphIS and its partners, the San Diego Natural History Museum (SDNHM), and Conservation Science Research & Consulting (CSRC), will implement the project.

NAVFAC Tasks GeomorphIS to Conduct Gnatcatcher Surveys at NWSSB Detachment Fallbrook

NAVFAC SW has tasked GeomorphIS to conduct presence/absence level surveys for Coastal California Gnatcatcher (CAGN) on approximately 1,400 acres of suitable habitat that remains within fourteen survey subareas on the Naval Weapons Stations Seal Beach, Detachment Fallbrook in San Diego County, California. This 2015-2016 annual abbreviated survey and nest monitoring project will help track impacts to CAGN and other wildlife species related to the 2015 Tomahawk Fire on the installation. GeomorphIS and team member Kidd Biological, Inc. will implement the project.
