BLM Billings District Office Tasks GeomorphIS to Conduct Class III Survey
The Bureau of Land Management’s Billings Field Office (BiFO) tasked GeomorphIS and its team partners, Hope Archaeology Inc. and U.S. West Research, Inc., to conduct a Class III inventory of the Hoskins Basin Archaeological District in Yellowstone County, Montana. The Hoskins Basin Archaeological District was created to recognize a conical timber lodge and cribbed log structures, along with a habitation site. The cribbed log structures and conical timber lodge were rare for this location within Montana when the District was established in 1973. Since establishment of the District, a number of additional cultural resources have been documented within the 2,610 acre District.
