BLM Tasks GeomorphIS to Conduct Invasive Plant Survey in Arizona

The US Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Tucson Field Office (Gila District), has tasked a GeomorphIS team to inventory and map non-native invasive and noxious plant species found within the Las Cienegas National Conservation Area (LCNCA) in southeastern Arizona during the 2024 field season. The survey area is about 11,000 acres. The non-native invasive species of concern for this area is primarily yellow bluestem (Bothriochloa ischaemum), but also includes Johnsongrass (Sorghum halepense), and possibly saltcedar (Tamarix ramosissima) in the riparian areas. These survey data will assist in treatment plan development and inform management priorities and planning efforts to preserve the native plant communities and habitat of LCNCA.

USFS Tasks GeomorphIS to Conduct CERCLA Assessment of Mine in Oregon

The USDA Forest Service (USFS) has issued GeomorphIS a task order under our Land Management Integrated Resources (LMIR), Blanket Purchase Order (BPA) to conduct the Copper Glance Mine Site Inspection and Risk Assessment project on the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest (OWNF), Methow Valley Ranger District, Oregon. A GeomorphIS-Geosyntec team will conduct the CERCLA Site Inspection, first developing a work plan (sampling and analysis plan, quality control plan, and health and safety plan), then implementing the site inspection, followed by submission of a site inspection report. The team will then conduct a CERCLA Risk Assessment, including the preparation of a draft and final Human Health and Ecologica Risk Assessment report.
