GeomorphIS Team to Conduct Mexican Spotted Owl Surveys on the Apache-Sitgreaves NF, Arizona
The USDA Forest Service, Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests has tasked a GeomorphIS/BIOME team to complete Mexican Spotted Owl (MSO) surveys for PACs (Protected Activity Centers) and inventories of other areas within timber and fuels management units within the Springerville Ranger District, Arizona. The first 2 years of this 5-year contract have been funded. The GeomorphIS team will survey MSO PACs and habitat not previously surveyed using the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service survey protocol, and un-inventoried potentially suitable habitat within the District’s boundary. Survey efforts are required to comply with law, regulation, and policy.
