GeomorphIS Team to Prepare Forest-Wide Rx Fire EA for Mendocino National Forest
The US Forest Service (USFS) Pacific Southwest Region has tasked GeomorphIS to provide National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) support to the Mendocino National Forest, California in preparation of of a Forest-wide Prescribed Fire Environmental Assessment (EA). The work is divided into three phases. Phase 1 is to prepare, and have accepted by the Forest’s line officers, a project framework. Phase 2 includes compliance with the National Forest Management Act (NFMA) and pre-NEPA analysis of all potentially impacted resource areas, as agreed to by MNF line officers. Phase 3 includes the actions necessary to complete the analysis and issue the NEPA decision. The GeomorphIS team will provide the project record, in a format approved by the Forest Environmental Coordinator or their Acting, at the conclusion of the project to facilitate response to any objection or litigation. The target date for the final decision is mid-2021. GeomorphIS is providing a team including IDT Coordinator, NEPA Planners, Fire-Fuel Specialist, Hydrologist, Wildlife Biologist, Botanist, Archaeologist, GIS specialist, and NEPA Writer-Editor.
