WAPA-DSW Tasks GeomorphIS to Conduct Cultural Resources Survey at Glen Canyon
The Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) Desert Southwest Region has issued GeomorphIS a task order under our 5-year environmental Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) to conduct a cultural resource survey along the Glen Canyon (GC) to Flagstaff 1 &2 (FLG 1&2), GC to Powel 1 (PWL1), GC to Slavens (SLV), Glen Canyon Dam (GCD) to Glen Canyon Switchyard 1-4 (GC-1 to 4) 69 to 345-kV Transmission Lines Right of Way (ROW) and Access Roads. The cultural survey will be done in compliance with environmental laws and regulations, including the Archaeological Resources Protection Act, National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA), and applicable State Laws. The GeomorphIS team will conduct up to 7 types of cultural services in support of Evaluating Cultural Sites within WAPA’s ROW and access roads along the Glen Canyon Cultural Survey, outside of Navajo Reservation, Coconino County, Arizona. There is approximately 9 miles of intersecting access roads (50 feet width), 21 miles of transmission line, and 7 sites that are eligible/considered eligible/not evaluated for the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP).
