WAPA-RMR Tasks GeomorphIS Team with Survey and Monitoring for Ute Ladies’-tresses
The US Department of Energy (DOE), Western Area Power Administration (WAPA), Rocky Mountain Region (RMR), hired the GeomorphIS-Elliott Environmental Consulting team to perform Ute ladies’-tresses (Spiranthes diluvialis; ULT) surveys and monitoring near Vernal, Utah. The GeomorphIS team will conduct background research to identify potentially suitable habitat within the project area, clearance survey for ULT during the official flowering season, preparation of a report summarizing clearance survey findings, monitoring of ULT habitat and occurrences during vegetation management, completion of daily monitoring progress reports, and a final monitoring report. All surveying, monitoring, data collection, and reporting will be completed in accordance with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) Utah Field Office Guidelines for Conducting and Reporting Botanical Inventories and Monitoring of Federally Listed, Proposed and Candidate Plants (August 31, 2011). This work will support vegetation management, including cut stump treatments, on the FGE-VNL-1 and FGE-VNL-3 Transmission Lines (proposed action).
